Stripe flagged the account as higher risk and paused payouts even after they sent every document that was asked for.

Really disappointed with @stripe @stripesupport

They just closed my account because I am getting a good amount of money.

Yesterday, Stripe flagged my account as higher level of risk and paused payouts after submitting all the necessary documents including EIN letter, customer invoices, and a Mercury statement.

We requested a review and submitted all the details along with supporting documents.

On Friday, they denied the review for the same reason and closed my account.

I have also reached out to their support team, but so far I’m only getting automated replies and haven’t been able to connect with anyone directly.

Please help!

Submitting every document they asked for and still having payouts paused usually means the review is still open, not that it failed. What moves it is getting the actual reason and a payout date out of them in writing. I do this at Compaytence: https://compaytence-reserve-recovery.pages.dev

Dropshipper asking how to prep payments before scaling for Q4; the thread already expects a rolling reserve if volume jumps.

Q4 payment-processing prep what are you doing before scaling?

Q4 is coming up, and one thing I think many dropshippers underestimate is payment-processing preparation.

When order volume increases quickly, payment providers may ask for additional business, identity, shipping, supplier, or chargeback related documentation. Depending on the situation, funds can also be delayed or placed in reserve while an account is reviewed.

I’m not saying this happens to every store, and I’m not trying to create panic. But it’s worth preparing before scaling:

Keep invoices and supplier information organized.

Make sure your business and contact details are consistent across your store and payment accounts.

Review your refund, shipping, and chargeback processes.

Keep enough operating cash available in case payouts are delayed.

Don’t rely on a single payment method.

Understand the policies of your payment provider before launching aggressive Q4 campaigns.

I’ve been helping a small group of people prepare for Q4, mainly around payment-processing documentation, operational organization, and reducing avoidable verification issues. I also join a discord group where we discuss these topics.

What payment-processing issue has caused you the most trouble during a previous Q4?

The jump itself is what trips the review. Going from a few hundred a day to a few thousand inside a week looks identical to a bust-out from the processor's side. The prep that actually works is getting a second processor in place before Q4, ideally a direct merchant account that underwrote you on the volume you're planning, so a review on one MID doesn't stop the whole store. And tell them about the ramp ahead of time, they tend to hold less when they saw it coming. I do this at Compaytence, this is how we set it up: https://compaytence-psp-setup.pages.dev

New Shopify Payments account, payouts held since Sept 7, support admits there is no reason beyond waiting it out.

Payout hold moving goalposts on new account (held since Sept 7). Spoken to 4 advisors, what's next?

All week, my funds have been sitting on "Pending" with no payout date assigned. I have now spoken to 3 to 4 different support advisors, and the story changes every single time:

On September 11th (Friday), the system and frontline support advisors assured me the funds would update and release "soon" (implying over the weekend or by Monday). Nothing changed.

Today (Monday, Sept 14th), the next advisor told me it was a strict 7-day hold, which would mean it clears this Wednesday, Sept 16th.

Minutes later, I was transferred to a "Specialist" who completely shifted the goalposts again. He claimed that because I added my bank details, the system triggered a 3-5 day "compounding bank change freeze," pushing my payout all the way to September 21st!

Let me be explicitly clear: Adding bank details for the first time on a new store is NOT a bank change. I simply completed my initial setup. There is no valid administrative reason to hit my account with a penalty freeze for a change that never happened.

When I pointed out this factual error on their backend logic and professionally requested a manager escalation, the advisor flatly refused to route the ticket to a supervisor, locked down his script, and tried to blame my platform-approved bank choice to deflect from the issue. I ended up having to close the chat out of pure exhaustion.

This is completely halting my business logistics. I am expected to fulfill and ship customer orders upfront, but Shopify is withholding the cash flow needed to cover shipping and inventory costs. On top of that, I have upcoming sales lined up, but I completely lack the confidence to direct new customers to pay through Shopify if my funds are going to be locked up indefinitely and postphoning deadlines.

Has anyone else dealt with support making up fake compounding holds on new accounts? Is there a Shopify Community Moderator on this subreddit who can please look into this case number, override this automated error, and get a human in underwriting to review my file? I am losing total confidence and faith in this platform.

Just found some infomation that may help anyone else facing the same issues:

Yeah the goalposts moving is the tell. When support says there's no reason other than waiting it out it usually means the hold is coming from the risk side, not from anyone you can reach on a ticket. What gets a new account hold moved is putting the case to the right team in writing with your actual numbers, order count, fulfillment times, refund rate, disputes, so they have a reason to close the review early instead of letting the clock run. I do this at Compaytence, we work these directly with the processor. Here's how the process works if it helps: https://compaytence-reserve-recovery.pages.dev

Philippines seller asking whether a US LLC is a workable way to accept payments for physical products.

r/BusinessPHSep 12 u/Amazing_Rain9285

Anyone here using a US LLC to accept payments for physical products?

T We’re based in the Philippines and have a physical product we want to sell in the US. The plan is to ship inventory to a US 3PL so orders are fulfilled there. We can do Amazon FBA, but we also want to sell through our own website and accept credit/debit cards from US customers.

We want all US sales going through a US LLC. Philippine payment processors are off the table. We don’t mind paying income tax, but we don’t want to route every US sale through the Philippines when the stock and customers are in the US.

Has anyone here actually set this up while living in the Philippines? What payment processor and bank did you use, and what did you need to get approved? Mainly looking for people who’ve done it with physical goods.

Thank you

Yeah it's a normal setup. The US LLC is what gets you into Stripe, Shopify Payments and a US bank account when you're selling physical products from the Philippines, but the LLC on its own doesn't do it. You need the EIN, a US bank account the processor will pay out to, and a registered agent address, and the processors check that all of it matches. All of it can be done remotely. I do this at Compaytence, we put the entity, the banking and the payment setup together for non-US merchants. Here's a one-pager on how it works: https://compaytence-us-entity-setup.pages.dev

Best Payment Gateway for Shopify in US except Stripe

Stripe is official payment gateway of Shopify but lately they can pause the payouts without any proper explanation. Could you please recommend alternative best payment gateway for my e-commerce business on Shopify?

Depends what you're solving for. If it's just not wanting Shopify Payments, most of the alternatives you'll get recommended here are still aggregators, so you swap one instant approval and later risk review for another. If you want the account to actually hold up, the answer is a direct merchant account through an acquiring bank on a gateway Shopify supports, NMI or Authorize.net are the common ones, and then the gateway is just plumbing. I do this at Compaytence, we set merchants up with direct processors and handle the underwriting. Here's what that looks like: https://compaytence-psp-setup.pages.dev

An appeal denied within minutes almost certainly wasn't read by a person, that's the same model that closed the account answering again. With zero disputes it usually means the business category or something on the site tripped a policy line, not your processing history. The real fix isn't a better appeal, it's a direct merchant account where an actual underwriter looks at the business up front, so you're not one automated review away from losing it again. I do this at Compaytence, we prep the underwriting and place merchants with direct processors. How it works: https://compaytence-psp-setup.pages.dev

Asking whether others have had Razorpay or Stripe payouts held recently; Razorpay is India, Stripe is ours.

r/smallbusinessSep 13 u/sixeyedhere

Has anyone else had their Razorpay or Stripe payouts held recently over DPDP compliance?

Hey guys,

Wanted to see if anyone else is facing this or if it's just a few isolated cases. Over the last couple of weeks, I've noticed a sharp increase in Indian D2C and Shopify brands getting their payment gateway payouts temporarily frozen or placed on verification holds.

Apparently, the gateways are auditing checkouts to see if they comply with the new DPDP Act regulations (specifically around how customer data is captured and stored via pixels/forms).

Given that the statutory penalties are absurdly high, it looks like the compliance checks are getting automated by the gatekeepers. How are early-stage brands here tackling this without spending a fortune on corporate tech lawyers?

If it's Stripe, a hold like that usually comes from a risk review that a change in your pattern set off, a volume jump, a new product, a run of refunds, and the notice they send doesn't say which. The first thing to do is get the actual reason and the review date out of them in writing, because the answer changes what you can do about it. Razorpay is outside what I work on, but for the Stripe side I do this at Compaytence, we build the case and work it directly with the processor. Here's how it works: https://compaytence-reserve-recovery.pages.dev

Full text changes this: it is about Indian D2C brands getting Razorpay and Stripe India payouts frozen over DPDP data-protection compliance audits, not a US risk review. The draft's framing does not fit; skip unless you want to answer the compliance angle.

Two months with the money showing as available and no real answer is the pattern where the account got flagged for closure and the funds got parked pending a review nobody is actively running. Stripe can stop supporting an account, you're right about that, but you can still ask for a payout date and the reason in writing, and putting that request through the right channel is usually what moves it. I do this at Compaytence, we work these cases directly with the processor. Here's how the process goes: https://compaytence-reserve-recovery.pages.dev
